Anthony Lazzaro's Obituary
Anthony (Tony) Stephen Lazzaro, 72, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Charlotte, NC.
Tony was born in the Bronx, NY on March 20, 1952. Later he moved to Nanuet, NY where he attended and graduated from Nanuet High School. After graduation, he took a cross-country road trip with his longtime friend in their newly restored Volkswagen camper. Once he was married, he moved to Clearwater, FL where he raised his family. As a father to three daughters, to spend additional time with them, he was heavily involved in their hobbies, and even became a Girl Scout leader for their troop. He had an associate degree and spent much of his career working in facilities management and project management at several companies before retiring from Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC. He was a master carpenter who created and sold his own creations at craft shows. He also remodeled his homes as well as completed additions by doing all the work himself. He often restored classic cars and owned over 60 throughout his lifetime. As a model train enthusiast, he would transform his living room into a festive holiday scene and welcomed friends and family to enjoy the setup. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, gardening, stamp collecting, camping, but most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Stephen Lazzaro and great grandmother, Ethel Ludwig.
Tony is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Debra Anne Lazzaro, their children; Wendy Grover (Tom), Andrea Roberts (Jamie), and Stephanie Lazzaro (Wade); grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan, and Peyton Roberts; sisters, Barbara Voyles and Jeannine Kupcik (Tom); many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, November 7 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will be holding a visitation and reception after the services at the funeral home.
