Anthony Peter Nicas' Obituary
Anthony Peter Nicas "Pete", 86 of Charlotte died November 18, 2019 at the Huntersville Oaks. He was born on May 30, 1933 in Allentown, PA to the late Peter and Martha Nicas. After Pete graduated from Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, PA he served in the US Navy on the USS Preston during the Korean War.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Agronomy at the National Agricultural College in Doylestown, PA and completed his Masters of Agricultural Economics at Cornell in Ithaca, NY. He served as the National Sales Manager for Spectracide Home and Garden Products at Ciba-Geigy Corporation for the majority of his business career. He and his wife spent their retirement years in Charlotte, NC where he especially enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and teaching the Bible and doctrines of the Christian faith.
Many who knew Pete in recent years agree he was cheerful regardless of his circumstances or discomfort. He showed true compassion and concern for others and they received great comfort and joy from his warm, witty sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather ( Pop Pop), and friend. He and his wise godly counsel, prayers of intercession and lovingkindness will be greatly missed by many. But he will be remembered most of all as a man of strong faith who was devoted to denying himself to take up his cross and follow his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in joyful love, gratitude and obedience.
He is preceded in death by his son Peter Todd Nicas. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nancy Hastings Nicas; daughters, Lydia Watson and husband Bruce of Davidson and Valerie Nicas and husband Kevin of Charlotte; sister, Marlene Denney of Syracuse, NY; 7 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.
