Antoine Carl "Carlos" Lamyssaire's Obituary
Antoine Carl Lamyssaire, lovingly known as Carlos, was born on December 17, 1938, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He peacefully transitioned on February 7, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 87.
Carlos was born to the late Jean Lamyssaire and Pauline Vernet Lamyssaire, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Marc Edme'.
Carlos leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sons, Ronald Lamyssaire (Audrey) of Maryland and James Lamyssaire (Bettina) of New Jersey; his loving sisters, Marie Ginette Bernadotte and Marie Alourdes Monuma; his brothers, Paul Edme' (Marcelle) and Georges Edme'; his cherished grandchildren, Gaelle O'Neal, Jonathan, Gabrielle, and Johanna Lamyssaire; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
In his early years, Carlos married Gladys Louis-Jacques, and from this union, he was blessed with his two sons, Ronald and James. He later married Lillian Rocourt.
Carlos was a mechanic by trade, but his talents extended far beyond his profession. He was highly skilled in carpentry and had a strong understanding of computers. A true craftsman and master builder, Carlos could build furniture of exceptional quality, often better than anything that could be purchased in stores.
Outside of his work, Carlos had a deep appreciation for the arts and culture. He enjoyed photography and had an eye for capturing meaningful moments. He was a lover and collector of music, art, coins, and other treasured valuables, taking pride in preserving items of history, beauty, and significance.
Carlos was also known for his intelligence and cultural depth. He spoke multiple languages, French, Creole, Spanish, English and a little German. He enjoyed social gatherings where he could dance. He carried a strong, determined personality and lived life on his own terms, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Carlos will be remembered for his strength, skill, independence, and the legacy he leaves through his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Sheldon Davis, will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, 12:00pm, at James Funeral Home.
