Audrey Ballard Stroupe's Obituary
Mrs. Audrey Stroupe left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
Audrey was born on August 3, 1933. She grew up in Mooresville, and attended Mooresville High School where she played and excelled on the women’s basketball team. Throughout her life, Audrey deeply loved Jesus, her family and all forms of music. While serving at various churches as a minister’s wife, she played the organ, piano, keyboard, hand bells, sang in the choir and worked with children and youth. While she and Clif were serving at the Riverbend and Snow Hill United Methodist church charge, she played piano in the group ‘Redeemed” and was the pitcher for the women’s softball team. After Clif retired as a United Methodist Minister in 1995, Audrey and Clif moved to Denver, NC and made New Covenant United Methodist Church their church home. Audrey retired the following year in 1996 from a secretarial position at Electrical Consulting Engineers. Retirement allowed Audrey even more time to serve. At New Covenant, Audrey was organist for many years, was a dedicated member of the New Covenant adult choir and played the piano in the Praise 150 praise band. She also deeply loved to work with the children’s choir and the annual bible school music program.
Audrey was an adored mom (Mama), grandmother (Meema, Audu and MawMaw), wife and sister and shared her heart for Jesus, her family and others through kind words, sweet smiles, compassion and gentleness. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, humility and unconditional love that will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clif; her parents, Nathan and Annie Ballard; her sisters Beatrice, Mary Frances and Louise, and her brother George. She is survived by her children Mike Stroupe and wife Caroline of Pinehurst, NC, Angela Hallman and husband Randy of Denver, NC, Shan Stroupe and girlfriend Gwen of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Wesley, Bradley, Annie, Ashley and Thomas. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Ballard and Sarah Allen, brothers Lewis Ballard and David Ballard and many extended family members and friends including her New Covenant church family.
Audrey’s celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 10 at New Covenant United Methodist Church located at 14514 Lucia Riverbend Hwy, Mt. Holly, NC 28120. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church at 378 N. Pilot Knob Rd, Denver, NC immediately following the celebration of life service.
