Avery Bost's Obituary
Avery Clayton “Pete” Bost of Charlotte, NC., passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 9:45am at Olde Knox Commons, Huntersville, NC.
Mr. Bost was born April 8, 1923 in Catawba County, Newton, NC. Son of the late Sidney Albert Bost, Sr. and Rose Evans Bost. He was a graduate of Balls Creek High School class of 1940 in Newton, NC.
After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps at Camp Craft in Boloxie, MS. for basic training. He served in the 509th Composite Group under CEO Colonel Paul Tibbits on the island of Tinian.
He was an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. He served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Bazaar-Craft Group and the Young of Heart “Joy” Group, serving as their bus driver for 13 years.
He retired from McLean Trucking in 1980 after 23 years of employment.
Mr. Bost is survived by his wife Frankie Poole Bost. The Bost were married for 50 years, but had no children. He has nine nephews and nieces who serve as their children. They are: Allen Bost (Marsha) of Taylorsville, NC, Gary Bost (Kaye) of Newton, NC, Michael Bost (Linda) of Denver, NC, Robert “Bobby” Bost of Newton, NC, Kenneth Sales of Mocksville, NC, Joyce Bost Huffman of Hickory, NC, Barbara Bost Torres (Manuel) of Greensboro, NC, Rebecca Bost Harris of Newton, NC, and Nelson Poole (Jayne) of Burlington, NC.
Mr. Bost was preceded in death by brothers Sidney Albert Bost, Jr., Daniel Evans Bost, Robert Allen Bost and his parents. Also a neice Precyous Bost Sales and nephew Luther Huffmann.
Funeral services for Mr. Bost will be held, Sunday, December 22nd at 3:00 pm at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, NC. Pastors Allan L. Purtill, Jr. and John Y. Todd, III will have the service. Internment will follow in church cemetery. Visitation 2:00~2:45pm in sanctuary of church.
