Barbara Jean Houck, 72 of Cornelius died April 16, 2020. She was born on September 17, 1947 in Sumner, IA to the late John Robert Nauholz and Alice Block Nauholz. Barbara worked for National Airlines until 1980. She went on to ow Read Obituary
Barbara and I taught preschool together at
Davidson UMC. What a joy that year was! We supported each other, she supported her family and we laughed with the children. I have such fond memories of that year. What a blessing. I am so sorry to hear of her passing but she is with her LORD. Lisa Marion
What a blessing to have a true friend. Barb was a godly woman. Her faith was in Jesus alone and she loved and trusted the truth of God's word. Most importantly, she lived it, which made her an example to all of us. Barb's family was her pride and joy; the grandchildren brought their "Nana" pure happiness.:)
Barb lived her life and faced her illness with strength, dignity, and perseverance, always proclaiming, "God is good." We laughed till we cried, prayed together, encouraged one another, and just 'got' each other for about 35 years! We said so many times how good God was to give us true friendship.:)
Last but not least, Barb was a 'classy' lady, not because of her Talbot's wardrobe or her impeccable 'together look', but because she was gracious and kind. A perfect friend to me; I will miss her dearly...To God Be The Glory, Great Things He Hath Done.

My thoughts and prayers have been with Bob and family. I was a classmate of Barb's in 6th through 12th grades in Oelwein, IA. Barb always had a beautiful smile on her face! She had many friends because she was so sweet and fun! My husband and I lived in Alexandria, VA for three years in the early 70's and Barb and I were able to get together and reminisce about growing up in Oelwein! It is with great sadness to learn of Barb passing away and I extend my sympathy to Bob and family.

“The most memorable times with Barb for me was our Saturday yard sales. It started on Friday mapping out the addresses & putting them in geographical order, this way we didn’t miss any of the yard sales or waste any time. We would start out around 6am sometimes 6:30. Instead of stopping at every yard sale we would do whatever we called a drive by to see if there was anything to actually stop for. Whoever wasn’t driving would be the look & see person. Barb & I had so much fun going to yard sales looking fit treasures & things we felt we had to have just because. The best part of our Saturday’s was being able to spend time together as friends & laugh together.
Other great memories were the family get togethers we had. Lots of great memories were made at these gatherings.
My prayers go out to Bob & family that God will give you all Peace & Comfort.
Barb you will be missed & I know we will see you again, the next time in Heaven.”

Each time I look at my two grown daughters I think of Miss Barbara and Miss Carolyn. They made the best team and the best daycare. They both raised my girls to become the smart young ladies they are. We had many of long talks. Heaven will be blessed. Prayers to Bob and the kids. Naomi Greener and family.
I have to say that Barbara is an awesome woman. And I will say "is" because I know that she lives on in heaven. She is with the father now but we will see her again in heaven. I look forward to that day. My love goes out to Bob and and the family. Our prayers are with you and God will see you through. Love you all.
Such a beautiful woman! She loved deeply and had a wonderful wit. It was a delight to bring church to her home when she wasn’t able to come to services. We sang, preached, and laughed with Barb in her last moments. She’s enjoying her healing in Heaven now and we are so happy for her, but grieve with Bob over this loss. You are loved Barb!
Barbara took care of my first born son when I had to go to work. I would never have been able to have peace with anyone else caring for him when he was so young. She invited me to go to church, which I did not accept at first, but as she kept asking I finally went. I ended up getting saved and we began a friendship from there. I remember talking to her on the phone for hours about the Lord and what He was doing. When I would go to pick Aaron up at the end of a work day, I’d end up staying and talking with her. Then she had Bob come into her life which was another topic of conversation. :)
I remember her always standing on the Word and what the Lord says no matter what happened. She was a warrior, a good friend, and a blessed child of God. I’m so thankful she is now with her precious Savior and I look forward to seeing her again.
Barb I am still in shock over your passing. I have so many fond memories of you dear friend. I loved walking around looking at antiques with you, still and talking and of course our trip to North Myrtle Beach was so memorable. I can't ever look at a Talbots label and not think of you! You will always have a special place in my heart and you will be missed by so many. Rest in peace sweet friend!
