Barbara Williams Lincoln's Obituary
Barbara Williams Lincoln, 85, of Denver, NC, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend went to her heavenly home on Tuesday October 30, 2024.
Barbara was born in Harrellsville, NC. The youngest of four children, she was proud of her upbringing on the tobacco farm. She learned her work ethic from her siblings and parents, but as a young child aspired to be a schoolteacher or businesswoman. She graduated from Harrellsville School in 1957, in a class of 11 students. She attended Chowan College business school for 1 year and was given the opportunity to work as stenographer for the FBI in Washington, DC. This prepared her for her 25-year career as Clerk of Collections in the City Tax Office in Fayetteville, NC. Upon retirement, the mayor presented her with the coveted key to the city of Fayetteville, an honor of which she was extremely proud.
Barbara loved her work, but her true passion was teaching. She gave her life to the Lord at a young age, and she shared that love of Christ with countless children, teaching Sunday school, Bible School and singing in the choir at Cedar Falls Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 50 years.
She deeply loved her husband Robert of 27 years and cared for him diligently until his death in 2009. Upon his death she relocated to Denver, NC, and brought with her that same love for the Lord and service to her new church Westport Baptist, serving as president of the Jolly Seniors Sunday School Class. When she wasn’t spending time with her neighbors and family, she could be found preparing her famous cheese wafers, crocheting, playing words with friends and writing poetry. She used her quick wit, humor and creativity to bring joy to countless people. She fostered deep and endearing friendships at church and the Terraces Community where she lived. Her infectious smile and welcoming nature made people feel at home around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marjorie Williams, brothers Herman and Roger Williams, and sons, Robbie Lincoln and David Lincoln and her beloved dog Daisy Mae. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Goggio (Patricia), Steven Goggio (Marianne), John Lincoln (Lisa), grandchildren, Ryan Goggio, (Katie), Taylor Goggio Blackwelder (Ethan), Megan Mundy, Ben Mundy, Jennifer Lincoln, Robert Lincoln, Liam Collins, Valerie Lincoln Marioth (Scott), Chris Lincoln, James Lincoln, Cassie Ward, great-grandchildren, Emily Carson Goggio, Caden Harris , Jaylen and Trent Ward , beloved Sister Fannie Casper and many nieces and nephews.
