Barbara Ann Russell Mock's Obituary
Cornelius, North Carolina - With great sadness we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Mock on October 10, 2023. Born in Atlanta, GA on January 16,1936. Mother, Mildred Skelton Russell and father, W.G. Russell. Grandparents, Martha and James Skelton of Athens, GA. and Eva Green Russell of McDonough, GA. Barbara attended Central High School and Belhaven College in Jackson, MS. She was involved in children's activities and in the grassroots beginnings of the Republican Party in Charlotte, campaigning for various conservative candidates. Barbara enjoyed time at the ocean, reading historical biographies and her grandchildren. She hosted yearly family Christmas parties and was a member of The Red Hat Society. She was employed by various financial organizations over a 20-year period.
She is survived by her husband James Mock from the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte and now residing in Oak Island, NC and their four children, Cheryl (Jim) Price of Mt Pleasant, SC, James Mock Jr of Charlotte, NC, Robert ( Lisa) Mock of Tampa, FL, and Elizabeth ( Chad) of Statesville, NC, and 10 grandchildren, Wilson, Jacob, Mary and Ben Odom of Statesville, NC, Laura Froning of Trinity, FL, John Rice (Lindsey) of James Island, SC, and Adam (Kayla) of Ormond Beach, FL, Parker and Savannah Mock of Tampa, FL, Kristen Price of Mt Pleasant, SC, and 4 great grandchildren, Michael, Emily and Lily Froning and Sienna Mock. Also sisters Pat (Ed) Curtis of Lawrenceville, GA, and Deborah Payne of Charlotte, NC and nieces Christy Curtis, Sharyn Micheli, Ashley Fletcher, Amy Farmer, and nephew Chris Payne. Barbara was well known for saying what was on her mind and enjoyed classical music and history.
A visitation will be on November 5th at 2pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm at Huntersville Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC. The family requests any donations be made to Tunnel To Towers Foundation.
