Barbara Mae Noronha's Obituary
Barbara Mae Noronha, age 88, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Born April 4, 1936, in Columbus, OH, to the late Vernon Lewis and Lucille (Eckstein Fleischer) Scriven, Barbara graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1954 and later attended Capital University.
Barbara had a zest for life, as evidenced by her passion for music and dance. As a lifelong piano teacher, she imparted her love and knowledge of music to thousands of young students in Ohio and Florida. She also shared her musical talents with her community, volunteering at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC, Carillon Assisted Living in Huntersville, NC, and various local events. A lover of nature, Barbara found great joy in watching the birds and butterflies that visited her garden, a pastime that brought her peace and happiness throughout her life.
Barbara is survived by her children, Elise Gastineau, Karl (Kris) Gunther, Julia (Dennis) DelGado, Frances Noronha, and David (Cathy) Noronha; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Taylor Gastineau, Brianna DelGado, and Chad and Brandon Noronha.
Barbara was fortunate to find love twice in her life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Gunther, in 1972 and her second husband, Malcolm Noronha, in 2010. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Scriven.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 11:15 am at James Funeral Home of Huntersville with visitation immediately following. A livestream will be available for those unable to attend in person.
