Barbara, who was a retired nurse, spent her life caring for others. She worked in numerous nursing capacities in the area including in the operating room, pediatric office, as an infection control nurse, and finally retired from the newborn nursery at Presbyterian (Novant) Hospital in Charlotte. She had the joy and unusual opportunity to care for all six of her grandchildren when they were born.

For numerous years, she made and decorated beautiful wedding cakes for the community. She was also an avid reader and bird watcher.
She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church for 66 years where she served as an Elder and was awarded the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership award. She was a member of the Wayland Sunday School Class and the Mary Torrence Circle and was very active in serving her Lord and Savior in many ways through this faith community.
Barbara had a quiet, gentle spirit and her deep faith was evident in all she did. She was a firm believer in God’s healing touch. She loved nothing more than spending time with and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who all loved her very dearly and will miss her very much.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Olde Knox Commons, especially Susan, Thomas, Deana, Taylor, and Lena, for the love and support they gave her during her final months.
