Barbara Nipper Simcox, 79, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on September 14, 2023. Devoted
wife of Col. Lawrence Spencer Simcox Jr. USAF Ret. (Larry) and mother of four children: Mary
Simcox Rountree (John) of Gainesville, GA, Lawrence Spencer Simcox III (Nichole) of Calabash, NC, Christina Simcox Dooley (Ryan) of Charlotte, NC, and Andrew Michael Simcox (Kimberly) of Valencia, CA. Barbara was a devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren: Lt. Matthew and wife Lt. Arianna Simcox USAF of Columbus, MS, Miss Christian Dooley, Clover, SC, Miss Devin Simcox, Wilmington, NC, twins Miss Payton Dooley and Miss Logan Dooley, both of Boone, NC, Miss Carys Rountree, Milledgeville, GA, and Miss Emma and Mr. Spencer Simcox of Valencia, CA. A sister to four and sister-in-law to five, Barbara never saw the difference. She is much loved by her large family including 20+ nieces and nephews from all over the country; she is missed so much already.
Barbara was born in Portland Oregon, the younger sister to her twin Mary, they were the first of five children to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Eugene and Claudia Hassing Nipper. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin, Ms. Mary Bryant.
A visitation is set for Friday, September 22nd, from 6 - 8 p.m. at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr, Huntersville, NC. A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday, September 23rd at 9 a.m. at Belmont Abbey’s Mary Help of Christians Basilica with interment to follow at the Belmont Abbey Cemetery, Belmont, NC.
Barbara's enduring spirit will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones and many who called her a teacher and friend. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to your desired charity/organization of choice.
