Baxter "Buddy" Nash's Obituary
Baxter McAllister “Buddy” Nash, III, 63, of Galax, VA (formerly Huntersville, NC) went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2024. He was born in Georgia on June 21, 1960 to the late Baxter and Donna Nash.
Buddy was currently serving as the music minister at Huntersville A.R.P. Church. He has been musically inclined his entire life, from playing in school band to singing with Opera Carolina later in adulthood. Buddy’s many other interests included camping, hiking, running, and spending time with friends, family and every dog he ever had.
A lifetime learner and dedicated servant, Buddy had a love for nature. He shared his passion for God’s creation with everyone he encountered. His fondest memories of these events would be camping under the stars with his daughter Naomi; He has hiked everywhere on the Appalachian Trail from GA to VA and even as far west as Washington. He has run thousands of miles with his ultra running buddies, his son Nate and family dog companion, Schultz. Buddy loved all the aforementioned, but he loved nothing more than his Miracle Barb. He had his eyes set on Barbara since high school and strived throughout their marriage to build a beautiful life for them; to include their dream cabin they built together on the Blue Ridge Parkway as they were headed into their retirement years. Buddy built his family up through his love, hard-work, and dreams.
Buddy is survived by his wife Barbara Nash; son, Nate Nash of Killeen, TX; daughters, Annie Cook (Adam) of Augusta, GA and Naomi Summers (Cameron) of Augusta, GA; sister, Becky Yager (Rad) and 5 grandchildren.
