To my Uncle Benny,
I was truly sorry that I couldn’t attend in person and missed your beautiful tribute. Even from afar, it was clear how deeply you were loved, and how much love and care you gave to your family throughout your life.
Thank you for being part of my life as I grew up. I will always cherish that.
I know how much you meant to my father, and I am grateful for what you meant not only to him, but to me as well.
And yes — I truly did always brag to my high school classmates in the Bronx and even to my coworkers at 277 Park Avenue that I had an uncle who was the very best firefighter in New York City.
I am still so proud of you.
Thank you for your life, your service, and your legacy.
With love,
Carlos
