Bernice Martin's Obituary
Mrs. Laura "Bernice" Martin, 77, of Charlotte, passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2023.
Bernice was born and raised in Charlotte and had strong ties to her Mallard Creek Church community. Bernice was a woman of devout faith and was proud to serve her church in many roles, including being a deacon, elder, barbeque committee member, and member of the Presbyterian Women. Bernice served in many professional accounting and bookkeeping capacities. She enjoyed creating unique greeting cards for her family and friends and specialized in conveying her care and concern with carefully chosen words and phrases. Her passion for living life to the fullest was evident in her participation in social groups such as the Red Hat Society. Bernice’s home away from home was her mountain house where she often found peace and serenity in a slower paced lifestyle. She was a proud host to many family events and savored her role as grandmother. Her relationship with her first born granddaughter, Harper, was truly something precious. The red hair being a physical indicator of a much deeper adoration. Her grandson, Dalton served to remind her of a youthful energy only rivaled by her own son. She was proud of many accomplishments, but being the best grandmother to her grandchildren was by far her biggest and most significant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lois Caldwell, her husband, Ted Martin , and her daughter, Lori Martin.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Ted Douglas Martin II (Danielle), of Mint Hill, NC, grandchildren; Harper and Dalton, and many loving cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February, 1 at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 1, prior to funeral services at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, 1600 W Mallard Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.
