Bertha started her career as C.N.A back in the late 1970’s. She was dedicated, compassion, and devoted to caring for the aging population. She retired early at the age of 55 yrs old, only to learn that wasn’t what she wanted to do. She started her journey back into healthcare. This time she would do private duty care services for patients and their families in their home. Bertha was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that truly loved and cared in her own special way. When Bertha learned of her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2022. She wasn’t afraid, she took the information with a grain of salt and kept pushing like she also does. She expressed her plan with her Oncology Team along with Shonda and Junior. She never looked back during this journey. She turned her life and her cancer over to the Lord to fight her battle.
Mom would spend her off days traveling from Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart. She often had Junior up on Saturday morning going to flee markets and farmer markets. She enjoyed going to Showmars for a good fish and shrimp plate. One last thing, if you don’t know she was Washington Commanders (Redskins to her.lol) You know where to find her on game day!
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 12 at James Funeral Home and visitation will be 10-11 AM prior. A burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
