Betty Jean Brackett Brown's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Brown, 82, of Davidson, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Betty was born and raised in Mooresville, NC. She moved to Davidson after marrying and took a job with Davidson College, where she worked for 30 years before retiring. Betty was a member of Shearer Presbyterian Church, the Seeker’s class, JPJ Circle, and a number of daylily clubs. She loved flowers of all varieties, but she was most passionate about daylilies. They were her absolute favorite and she had over a thousand varieties of them. In addition to gardening, Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Esko and Elizabeth Brackett, and her beloved husband of 51 years, Smiley W. “Doodle” Brown.
Betty is survived by her sons; Smiley “Walter” Brown, Jr. and wife Doris of Davidson, NC, and Tracy Brown and wife Kim of Huntersville, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Smiley Walter Brown, III and fiancé Brittany, Catherine Eicher and husband Benjamin, Michael Brown and wife Amber, Cameron Brown and fiancé Hailey, Cassidy Brown and Cayla Brown; great-grandchildren Nora and Noah, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and adored pets.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Shearer Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, with the funeral immediately following.
