Betty Crump Phillips' Obituary
Betty Jean Crump Phillips, 87, of Charlotte, NC passed away on May 24, 2018 at her home.
She was born on August 29, 1930 in Mecklenburg County. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha Helms Crump, and wife of the late Brooks Franklin Phillips. She was a 1948 graduate of Derita High School, member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star 151, member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Barnette (Jimmy), Sheila Bolick (Mark) and Charlene Grindstaff (Keith); six grandchildren, Karen Kerr (Andy), Jennifer Bush (Joe), Jacob Bolick, Rodney Bolick (Ali), Brook Kincaid (Scott) and Aaron Grindstaff (Ashley); 12 great-grandchildren, Seth Kerr, Jordan Kerr, Savanna Bush, Ayden Bush, Wyatt Bush, Miranda Bolick, Iris Kincaid, Cora Kincaid, Ellie Kincaid, Theo Grindstaff, Luke Grindstaff and Mason Grindstaff; sister, Sue Phillips; four sister-in-law’s, Barbara Crump, Virginia Pennington, Eloise Lockler and Bobbie Mae Wilson (Allen); three brother-in-law’s, Foy Lee Phillips, Mason Watkins and Gary Phillips. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Crump and Earl Crump; sister, Viola Gay; sister-in-law’s, Mary Crump, Kay Phillips, Carolyn Watkins and Edith Phillips; brother-in-law’s, David Phillips, Howard Phillips, Jack Pennington, Ray Lockler and Tom Gay.
A funeral will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Towery officiating. Burial will follow at church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday May 27, 2018, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at James Funeral Home.
