Betty Evans' Obituary
Betty Randall Evans went home to be with the Lord, Monday May 18, 2026 while at Southminster Retirement Community in Hospice care. Her family was by her side at the time of her passing. Betty was born in Lincolnton, NC on November 13, 1937, to the late Robert Davis Randall and Betty Brown Lipscomb Randall. She was a graduate of Cowpens High School in Cowpens, SC and attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC. Betty was voted Miss High Miss in her senior year of high school. She also enjoyed singing in the school choir and in church.
She was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. During Karen’s childhood she was a stay at home mother and housewife. She took great pride in taking care of her family including many fur babies along the way. Betty enjoyed family traditions especially at Christmas and birthdays. In the late 70’s she became an integral part of the family business. Betty retired from Kee Auto Top Manufacturing Co. as the companies Co-Owner/Vice President. Betty loved working with Kee’s customers and employees and they loved her. Her work ethic and tireless energy was second to none.
Betty was a woman of faith who love the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of Lake Norman Baptist in Cornelius, NC for many years and is currently a member of Neighborhood church in Huntersville, NC. In earlier years she worked in the church nursery, volunteered at vacation Bible school, tutored reading and sang in the church choir.
As a breast cancer survivor, she mentored other women through Strides for Strength at the Dowd YMCA. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution (DAR) Alexandriana chapter and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Boating & Fishing on Lake Norman was also a favorite past time.
During her years at Southminster retirement community she participated in Neighborhood Singers every Tuesday afternoon. She loved singing, especially old hymns.Her acts of kindness and radiant smile will be remembered by those who knew her. She never met a stranger and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents Betty is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Daniel St. John. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Erman Evans; and daughter, Karen Evans St. John.
Her celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday May 27, at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. A public visitation will be at 11:00 and service at 12:00, Lunch reception at 12:45. Graveside to follow at Mt. Zion Cemeteryin Cornelius, NC.
Pastor Landon Horton will be presiding.
