Betty Griffin Phillips' Obituary
Mrs. Betty Griffin Phillips, 84, of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
Betty was born on March 5, 1931 in Charlotte to W.R. and Naomi Stephens Griffin who were the owners of Griffins Fish Camp in Charlotte. She graduated from Derita High School class of 1949. She was a devoted lifetime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she was very active in many church functions. She also sang in the choir, worked on most of the fund raisers, and volunteered at nursing centers.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Clara, her husband, Clarence C. Phillips, and their son, Andrew C. Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son, Terry Phillips (Debbie); daughter, Sally Leatherwood (Marc), grandchildren; Michael and Megan Murray, daughter-in-law, Kim Phillips, sisters; Gert Lewis (Charles), Arzelle Dwyer, and a brother, Doug Griffin (Kathy).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
