A great aunt-great niece relationship isn’t always one you think of being close, but that doesn’t matter in the Mayes family, and it didn’t matter to my great aunt Betty. Even though I only got to see her a handful of times in my life, she always cared deeply about me and wanted to spend time with me. She was one of the strongest women I’ve known, having been widowed so early and raised three amazing boys and then lived on her on for so long. I was always in awe of her. I feel so blessed to have seen her this past summer, and honored she wanted to have me stay with her in her house. She was one of a kind ❤️
I am so thankful that my daughter Cindy and i got to visit with our Aunt Betty in August 2018. We have some very special memories and pictures from our recent visit. She is one of the best cooks I know, and she has shared many recipes with me through the years. She was a strong woman who loved the Lord and her family so much. I enjoyed our chats together, over the phone and in her home. I will miss her forever! My prayers are with her sweet family. - From Kathy Thom, her niece in Indianapolis, IN

I am so blessed to have had Betty in my life. Love to All of the Mayes Family, let her memories live in you always.. Happy Osborne
I have so many wonderful memories of Betty. One of my most treasured one is the time I lived with her while doing my student teaching in Fall of 1988. She opened her home to me and treated me like one of her own!! She was such a blessing to me and my family!! She has been my mom’s life long friend and they still talked on the phone weekly. My family will miss her greatly!! Please accept my deepest condolences. I’m praying for God’s peace and comfort! Love to all of you, Mary Ruth Mabe
I truly loved this precious woman...she always greeted me with a hug in the hallways of Grace Covenant Church every Sunday. I will surely miss Miss Betty...Prayers being said for her family.
