Betty S. Woolard's Obituary
Betty Scarboro Woolard, 90, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1935 in Charlotte, the daughter of the late E.A. Scarboro and Ethel Atkinson Combs. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Taylor Woolard, Sr.; daughter, Cindy Ross; and her four brothers.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert “Robbie” Taylor Woolard, Jr. and Kay of Huntersville; son-in-law, Doug Ross of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren, Zachary Woolard, Brycen Woolard, Crystal Watson (Chase), and Matthew Whitfield (Jennifer); and great grandchild, Kaden Qualls.
Betty was a long-term member of Calvary Baptist Church of Charlotte where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, sang in the choir, taught children's choir, and served as a past Church Treasurer. She loved attending and was very involved with the Senior FISH group (Fun in Serving Him) and would often volunteer to drive members to Church; she was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Betty will be remembered as a lady who loved her Church and always had a smile on her face, she was always happy to see people and socialize. At home, Betty loved cooking desserts, her carrot cake and banana pudding will never be forgotten. She also enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles, and completing crossword puzzles. Above all, Betty was a very loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 2727 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Charlotte. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jack Homesley and Pastor Tony Harper, will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral service at Sharon Memorial Park.
