Bill "Murray" Gonsalves' Obituary
Mr. William (known as “Bill” or Murray) Gonsalves of Concord passed away early Sunday morning June 26, 2022.
Murray was a native of Saint Vincent Island and moved to the United States, served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 and lived in North Carolina until his passing. He was a faithful member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church, where he felt like part of the family and was involved in many activities serving as an usher and member of the Rusty Hammers group. Throughout his life, Murray always enjoyed camping, traveling, square dancing as well as Playing Cards and Dominoes with close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Brigman (Gonsalves), and his loving wife of 16 years, Moronna “Ronnie” Gonsalves.
Murray is survived by his Sister Diana Diederich and her husband John of Mooresville, NC, his Brother Butch Brigman of Greensboro, NC, Sister Dotty Cook and her husband Barry of Pineville, NC, his Brother Michael Brigman and his wife Jenny of Charlotte, NC, and his Sister Freida Wynne of Charlotte, NC.
He is also survived by his children by marriage, Rick Privette and his wife Linda of Cedar Key, FL, John Michael Hartis and his wife Debora of Kannapolis, NC, Angela Hartis of Zephyr Hills, FL, Michael Todd Privette of Monroe, NC, his wife Pam, Phillip Privette of Waxhaw, NC, Patrick Hartis of Raleigh, NC and his many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Murray was also survived by close friend, Brenda Lemmond, who became his square dance partner with whom he shared many happy years together up until his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harrisburg United Methodist Church, flowers may be sent to Harrisburg United Methodist Church or to James Funeral Home in Huntersville.
