Bill Tyson's Obituary
William Gray “Bill” Tyson, 86, of Denver, NC passed away on July 21, 2013 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. Bill was born on July 10, 1927 in Mecklenburg County to the late William Boyce (Bill) Tyson and Mildred Byrum Tyson. Bill graduated from Waxshaw High School and serviced in the US Navy. Bill and his late wife (Charlotte Dover Tyson who passed away December 14, 2012) were owners of Carolina Coffee Distributors in Charlotte and enjoyed the times they spent traveling throughout the USA in their motor home visiting many wonderful friends.
Survivors include a daughter Karen Tyson, granddaughter Jennifer Walden Porterfield (Justin) of Charlotte, grandson Patrick Gray Bridges of Kentucky, brother Oscar Tyson and Jim Chaney of Boone, sister-in-law Marion Tyson of Charlotte, in-laws Tommie D. Plummer(Ken) and Ruth D. Robinson(Edward) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister Joann Tyson Scruggs, brother Oakey Tyson and brother-in-law Robert Scruggs.
The Tyson Family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Forest Lawn Lincolnton Cemetery in Lincolnton, NC.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County (especially Nurse Joy Barrett) for the extraordinary care they provided for Bill at his home and to the entire staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville for the wonderful care they gave to both Bill and his wife Charlotte during their final days.
