Billy Hugh Howard's Obituary
Billy Hugh Howard, 92, of Lowesville, passed from this life peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 13, 2022. He was born on June 17, 1930 to the late Georgianna Barker Howard and Seab Duret Howard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Duckworth Howard. He is also survived by his son, Art Howard and wife, Janet of Lowesville; and granddaughter, Alix Turner and husband, Bryan of Denver, NC; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Coley Howard, Harold Howard, Pat Howard, Robert Howard, S.D. Howard and Monroe Howard; and his sisters, Betty Sue Davis, Jessie Sherrill, Leona Cherry, Lockie Cherry and Ora Beatty.
Billy was a 1948 graduate of Rock Springs High School in Denver, NC. After graduation, he served in the US Air Force, 118 th AC & W. After his service to our country, Bill was employed by Douglas Aircraft andlat er General Motors. When General Motors relocated to Atlanta, GA, Bill chose to remain in Lincoln County and took a job with the NC Department of Transportation. After retirement from NCDOT, he was able to enjoy his passion for cars as a salesman for Town Square Ford in Lincolnton, NC. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. When he was not on the golf course, he could often be found at many of the local businesses where he loved visiting with family and friends and meeting new people while enjoying a good cup of coffee.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 16 th at Hill’s Chapel UMC, where Bill was a faithful member. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
