Bob Mayberry's Obituary
Mr. Mayberry, 82, lifelong resident of Huntersville, NC,passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Olde Knox Commons. He was born July 7, 1929 to the late Hollis Kelly Mayberry and Ada Gibson Mayberry. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Huntersville High School, followed by proudly serving in the US Army, where he was stationed in Orleans, France. Upon his discharge, he soon began32 years of employment with Duke Power Company. During his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling with Christian Tours, tending to his yard, playing his guitar,was a regular at the Hardee’s Breakfast Club and was known by family as the “Mayberry Patrol”. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church-Huntersville.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Williams Mayberry; one daughter, Rhonda Mayberry Jones and husband, Dean, of Cornelius, NC. He was proud to be called “Paw-Paw Bob” by grandson, Jeremy Dean Jones, and wife, Amanda, of Huntersville, NC; grandson, Cory Todd Jones, currently stationed in Corpus Christi, TX; and, his pride and joy, great-grandchildren, Christian Timothy Jones and Cassie Renea Jones of Huntersville, NC. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son, Todd Eugene Mayberry, as well as his brother, Bill Hollis Mayberry.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2011, beginning at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church-Huntersville, with funeral service to follow at 3:30 P.M. at the church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Doug Danner, Rev. S. M. Dorton and Rev. Walter Burgess. Burial will follow at Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
