Bonnie Hawks' Obituary
Mrs. Bonnie Jean Abernathy Hawks, 60, of Concord, passed away Saturday, March 26th, 2022.
Bonnie was a native of Huntersville, NC and most recently lived in Concord, NC. Bonnie thoroughly loved life and her many passions. She enjoyed cooking and was best known for her Chicken and Dumplings. Spending time with her family and friends and celebrating numerous holidays and birthdays yearly. She enjoyed gardening and watching her flowers bloom in the spring, seeing the occasional bird’s nest and watching those babies grow. Her beloved dog Penny was her best friend and side kick. Bonnie would occasionally play jokes on you, loved to dress up for her favorite holiday which was Halloween. NASCAR racing has been a lifelong passion of hers since she was a young woman. Her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr and most recently she pulled for Kevin Harvick. She was preceded in death by her sister Cynthia Abernathy Burgess Smith, Uncle Roy Lee Abernathy, and grandparents Charles & Mary Abernathy, Edwin Ralph & Hazel Malcolm.
Mrs. Hawks is survived by her husband of 38 years, John Paul Hawks, their children; Michael Paul Hawks of Concord, NC, Eric James Hawks of Concord, NC, and grandchildren, her beloved dog Penny; her parents William David & Iris Abernathy of Davidson, NC, sister Rebecca (Becky) Abernathy of Davidson, NC, brother William David (Billy) Abernathy Jr. (Susan) of Lincolnton, NC, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 1st at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Following the service, Interment will be at Northlake Memorial Gardens of Huntersville, NC.
