Braxton Buchanan's Obituary
Braxton Buchanan, 80, of Huntersville, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
She was born on August 19, 1933 in Smithfield, NC. She was the daughter of the late Harry Samuel and Bessie Leatherwood Crocker. She was raised by her aunt & uncle, Curtis and Mayme Seay. Braxton graduated from Berea College in Kentucky and retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System where she is best remembered as a 6th grade teacher at Huntersville Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Curtis Clifton Buchanan; her daughter, Jeree Current and husband David of Huntersville; two grandchildren, Colby and Serena Current of Huntersville. She is also survived by her sisters Anna Jean Angel & Mary Sue Crocker; sister-in-law, Joyce Crocker; nephew, David Angel and wife Sue; great nieces, Elizabeth and Lian Angel. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry “Buddy” Crocker; sister, Betty Jo Crocker; brother-in-law, Guy Angel; and niece Marie Angel.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at James Funeral Home.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Wade Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
