Brenda Moore Small's Obituary
Brenda Carolyn Moore Small, 80 beloved wife adored mother and cherished Grammy and MeMe went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2021 after a short illness.
Brenda grew up in Manning, South Carolina with adoring parents, wonderful friends and lots of travel to see her many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Family was her most treasured focus from an early age.
She met the great love of her life; Michael B. Small in December of 1961 and they were married on December 1, 1962; celebrating 59 years of blissful time together this year. Their example of what love and commitment to each other looks like has been the shining symbol for anyone who met them. All that she did was for God, Mike and her beloved family.
She had many gifts, talents and loves that she shared with us and nothing was out of bounds. From making bows and crafts to helping with homework, she was always there for us. She adored ACC basketball and could not believe she got to attend the Tournament one year. Brenda received her degree; BS in Nursing from the University of South Carolina (1962). Her class was the first 4 year Nursing degree for the school. She and many of her classmates kept in touch over the years.
Her heart was in helping and educating children. Her substitute/interim teaching years gave her great joy. She loved the piano and played for church whenever asked or needed until arthritis stopped her. She loved completing puzzles with Mike and going up to their mountain house for visits. Her house was the gathering place for family and she was always open to having celebrations and parties; never happier than with her Mike and her kids. She adored Christmas and was well known for her Dept 56 Christmas Village set up. Her excitement over each piece and how it represented our family truly made our holidays special. Our biggest fan, cheerleader and staunch supporter has gone home and we will miss her terribly until we see her again.
Brenda leaves behind her husband Mike; her daughter Catherine Gann (Fred) of Salisbury, sons: Daniel (Debbie) of Matthews, Mike (Ginger) of Mt Holly, David (Stacey) of Elgin, SC, and Jonathan (Noelle) of Charlotte. Grandchildren: Jacob (Monica), Ben (Moriah), Rachel, Gracie, Caleb, Ethan, Everette, Charli, Isaac, Gabriel and Analiese.
A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Community Church on Monday, October 4, 2021 beginning at 1:30. The family will have a private graveside service afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Community Church: Childrens ministries fund or the Missions fund.
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
