He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sammie and Norman McRae, his father-in-law Johnnie Patrick Dozier; his uncle Jack Moore; his aunt Hazel Naugle and his nephew Gavin Dozier.
Brian was born May 10, 1972, in Augusta, Georgia. He graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida, in 1990 and from the University of Florida at Gainesville in 1995 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. He was a devoted Florida Gators fan! He earned a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from N.C. State University in 2013. Brian was a Senior Associate at Dewberry in Charlotte.
Brian was an avid reader and always had a book close at hand. He loved the water – both lake and beaches - and enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, surfing, wakeboarding and lazy days on the beach soaking in the salty air. He and Alyson enjoyed many trips to Flagler Beach and boating on Lake Norman, where time with family and friends made every trip special. Brian also loved animals, and one of his greatest joys was playing with his sweet dogs Lilly and Gracie.
At heart, Brian was a simple guy with simple tastes. Books, beach, his dogs, ice cream, boiled peanuts, fried okra, burgers and wings, a cold beer, a hammock, warm socks, soft t-shirts and blankets – any one of these things would make Brian happy. Add Alyson, and his day was perfect.
Brian was a beloved and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
We love and miss you, Big B!
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 6 in the chapel of James Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow the service.
