Brian MacKenzie's Obituary
Brian William MacKenzie (74) of Cornelius, North Carolina died on August 4, 2022
Brian was born (August 5, 1947) and raised in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He was the only son of the late Henry and Janet (Devlin) MacKenzie.
Growing up he was an avid swimmer and diver . He swam for Pine Acres and AAU, Winning countless ribbons, medals and championship races. He attended Loomis-Chaffee School where he played Varsity Soccer but his real love was Lacrosse. He played attack position and his senior year they were undefeated. His greatest highschool game was with a 3-1 WIN against Kingswood when he scored a hat trick putting three shots by the best goalie in New England at the time. He continued to play Lacrosse when he attended (and graduated from) Villanova University and then throughout his adult years when he played for the Birmingham Alabama Men’s League.
Later in life,at age 50, he followed his dream and earned his law degree from The Birmingham School of Law. He was also in the Army reserves.
He loved riding his Harley, taking guitar lessons and had quite a collection of watches that would later bring a smile to his face at the end of his days.
He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife, Celia. He cared for her while she battled Alzheimer’s at their home in North Carolina until she passed, which left him devastated. Since then he began to deteriorate and had his own health issues. After having a stroke, which left him paralyzed on his left side, he never complained and tried to keep a positive outlook.
He leaves behind his daughters Kate and Karen and their families and his son BJ. In addition to leaving his children he leaves his dear and lifelong friends Scott Murphy and Peter Seigel and a very special stepdaughter, Melanie, who became his guardian angel at the end of his days. His family will be doing a private memorial service.
