I first met Chris in the mid 1990s as we both worked at a partnership formed by Duke Energy and Fluor Daniel, known as Duke/Fluor Daniel. Chris held a Sales role while I was in Engineering and Project Management. We didn't work directly together for many years but the
D/FD "family" was tight-knit and i got to know Chris very well. He always impressed me as a kind, honest, talented and caring person who was easy to get to know.
A funny story resulted from a golf league that developed at D/FD where fellow employees would play each other for fellowship and "bragging rights." Chris and I played a match and it came down to the last hole and I had two strokes to sink a four foot putt to win. I missed the first putt and the ball settled within "gimme" range. i looked at Chris, expecting him to concede the match but he said not a word - making me putt again. i missed the second putt and we tied the match. We laughed about that often over the years!
Eventually I reported directly to Chris in his role as President of Fluor Power. Though our time in that working relationship was short, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris will be missed by many. His warm personality built many friendships over the years.
Goodbye for now my friend. I'll see you on the other side.
