Bill was a great friend to me while I was at the WFU School of Medicine. I worked with him on numerous projects and always found Bill to be focused to be sure our efforts were successful. He did so much for the City of WS that his legacy will continue for years. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family.
Bill was a great neighbor with a wonderful sense of humor. His leadership is a key reason Winston-Salem is such a splendid city in which to live. We enjoyed every interaction we had with Bill. Bill and Anita were our neighbors on Gladstonbury for many years. He was a great City Manager and I enjoyed talking local government with him. Winston Salem is indebted to him for his excellent management of the City through the changes that occurred in the 80s and 90s and the effective way he managed a growing Winston Salem. We also enjoyed playing golf at Bermuda Run. He will be missed. Rest in peace.
