Butch McConnell's Obituary
Barry Wayne “Butch” McConnell, 71 of Huntersville died May 12, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 27, 1947 in Mecklenburg County to the late Glenn and Frances McConnell.
Butch could handle heavy equipment with finesse; drove 18 wheelers when necessary and LOVED coaching a men's softball team who won many trophies with county and state victories in NC and SC and the World Series of Softball in Atlanta, GA in a pouring rain in 1991. His team consisted of great players who became great friends.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Kathy Turman McConnell; son, Kevin McConnell (Dana Parsons) of Mooresville; daughter, Amanda Patterson (Bill Riippi) of China Grove; siblings, Roger, Jim and Ann; 4 grandchildren, Amanda McConnell, Zachary Wheeler, Derek McConnell, and Brady Patterson; and 1 great-grandchild, Myrna James-Cowan. Butch was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill, Pete and Bob and son-in-law Greg Patterson.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM at James Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
