Camille W. Gibson's Obituary
Camille Gibson, 87, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Camille was a native of Asheville, NC and moved to Huntersville, NC in 1999. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church where she served in many roles including elder, moderator of the Bethel Presbyterian Women and Circle 4, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School coordinator, Women’s Bible Study facilitator, volunteer for the annual BBQ fundraiser and many other church activities. Camille was a recipient of the Presbyterian Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her faithful service. She also volunteered with the Lake Norman Baptist Church MOPS program and was a member of the Lake Norman Christian Women’s Club and the Red Hat Club.
She loved flowers, chocolate, movies, shopping for sparkly clothing and hats, and most of all spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Margaret Winslow, her husband, Bill Gibson, and a son, Mike. She was also preceded in death by her namesake and beloved grandmother, Camille, who taught her about God, His goodness and love. Camille shared with many the story of her grief and suffering the loss of her loved ones. She was angry and left God for a long time, but she knew God never left her. She often said He was waiting for her and put her to work for Him at Bethel Presbyterian.
A celebration of Camille’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 11 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2025 at Calvary Episcopal Church Cemetery in Fletcher, NC.
