Carl Edward Deaton's Obituary
Carl Edward Deaton, 74, of Davidson, NC died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC. Born July 14, 1939, he was the son of the late George Duke Deaton and Grace Brown Deaton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Willie Mae Deaton Smoot, brother Thomas Leon Deaton and niece Donna Deaton McElwaine.
Carl is survived by his brother, George Crawford Deaton of Charlotte; daughters, Ann Arnette of Kannapolis, Carla Phifer and husband Max of Kannapolis, Alice Arnette and husband Russell, Bobbie Furr and husband David, all of China Grove; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step daughters, two step sons, live-in partner, Teresa Ridenhour, sister-in-law Mary Deaton and a dedicated, loving neighbor, Roy Smith, whom stood by him till the very end.
He was a dedicated truck driver for over 50 years, retiring from Great Dane Trucking. Before and after retirement he enjoyed raising a beautiful vegetable garden preserving what he raised.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 1:20 PM with the funeral service following at 1:30 PM at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, 1600 West Mallard Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Burial will be immediately in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, 1600 West Mallard Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28262 and / or Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
