Carl John Hendry's Obituary
Carl John Hendry, age 76, departed this life on September 23, 2016 in Charlotte, NC. Born April 25, 1940 in Appleton, WI to Berniece and Thomas Hendry, Carl attended Winneconne High School, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Michigan. He was an Audiologist and a Speech Language Pathologist in both the United States and Canada. In 1979 he married Janis Dorr and together they founded San Juan Hearing Center in Durango, CO. They relocated to Davidson, NC in 1998 and he retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in 2009. Carl is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in- law, George Broderick.
Survivors include his wife Janis, his daughter Jena Samples(Brandon), his son Steve Hendry(Marla), his brother Don Hendry(Sally), his sister Pat Broderick, his brother-in-law Donald Dorr (Jan), four grandchildren, two nephews and one niece, one great grandchild, two granddogs, and his loving dog, Maxx.
Carl will be remembered for his excellent clinical skills, his beautiful blue eyes, his quirky sense of humor, his devotion to his wife, his love of animals, trees and snow skiing, and his perpetual smile.
A memorial service will take place on Friday October 14, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Davidson United Methodist Church in Davidson, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation in Carl's memory be made to Primary Progressive Aphasia Research, Northwestern University
