Carlotta Doran's Obituary
Mary Carlotta (Creech) Doran, 81, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Carlotta was born on February 23, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late James Pope Creech and Mary (Shotter) Creech. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Doran, and her brother, Harris Creech. Carlotta is survived by her children, Kate Doran of Concord, North Carolina, Mary (Michael) Kostrzynski of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Julia Doran of Tampa, Florida; her grandchildren, James Kostrzynski of Boston, Massachusetts, Ashley Kostrzynski of Greenville, South Carolina, and Annie Kostrzynski of Charlotte, North Carolina; her beloved dog, Jack; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carlotta spent her early years in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where she attended the Hathaway Brown School and The American School in Switzerland before graduating from Shaker Heights High School in 1962. Carlotta married Joseph Doran on November 27, 1967, and together they raised their three children in Shaker Heights and Solon, Ohio. Her early career included administrative work for Square D and Cleveland Clinic, and her love of travel led to a later career as a travel agent, where she explored the world and instilled that same sense of adventure in her family.
In retirement, Carlotta and Joe moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to be near their daughters and grandchildren, spending many cherished moments together. Carlotta loved to sew and share her beautiful creations with loved ones. She was a “Diamond” craft enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards and lunching with her closest friends. Carlotta’s friendships ran deep, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. EST at Davidson College Presbyterian Church in Davidson, North Carolina (100 N. Main St.). Family and friends are invited to join for refreshments at the church immediately following the service. Inurnment will take place in the spring (date TBD) at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, Carlotta would have loved donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Concord & Greater Cabarrus County.
