Carol Roundtree's Obituary
Carol Roundtree transitioned to her heavenly father’s loving arms on April 8, 2022. She passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by love.
Carol was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 16, 1954. Carol was the third of 7 children born to Lula Bell Finch and Waverly Bullock. Carol had her first child – David Finch in 1973, followed by her daughter Nikiya Finch in 1977. She attended Durham Technical college where she studied nursing and began her life’s mission of caring for others.
Carol developed a relationship with Christ and was saved in 1982 and became a member of Mount Zion Baptist church. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Washington DC where she met her wonderful husband William Roundtree (d. 2013) and her third child Sherronna Roundtree (Rucker). They married August 20, 1988 and eventually moved to Charlotte, NC in 1994.
There was nothing that Carol revered more than her love for Christ. Her faith and gratitude showed up every day through her hard work as a nurse, through her support of her family and friends, and through her volunteer work with church and her community. She was a forever peace maker, kind, caring and loving. She was equally strong and firm in her beliefs. You always knew where you stood with her without wonder. She never met a stranger and could have an hour-long conversation with them if they let her. She loved people and always left you feeling like your words, your stories, your life, mattered to her; and that’s because it did.
There wasn’t a soul in Carol’s life that she didn’t touch in someway or another. She was always someone’s auntie, mom, friend, storyteller, advice giver, healer, pray warrior, best friend, and traveling companion. Her life was the very image of Christ as she was an inspiration to so many people.
Carol is survived by her son David Finch (Alycia Finch), her daughters Sherronna Rucker (Jawar Rucker) and Nikiya Finch all of Charlotte and Jaylynn Roundtree of Annapolis, MD; by 7 grandchildren; Jeremiah, Kalika, and David Jr. (David), Emmanuel and Issiah (Sherronna), and Naya and Journey (Niki) and one loving pitbull named Mollie May. She is also survived by her 4 sisters Helen O’Neal (Elis), Doris Finch, Arneta Lee, Mary E. Harvin, 2 brothers Johnny Finch, Robert Finch (Teresa) and a host of nieces and nephews.
