Carol Tomlinson's Obituary
Carol Marie Batten Tomlinson, 77, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on September 2, 2015 at Levin & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville. Carol was born on September 27, 1937 in Thomasville, N.C., daughter of the late Robert and Daisy Batten. She attended UNCG earning a bachelor and master degrees in education and art. Carol’s career was teaching elementary art for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. As an artist she enjoyed all art medium. Her most unique art is a carousel horse she spent over 2 years hand carving. Jordan, the horse, is twirling on the restored Coolidge Park Carousel, Chattanooga, TN. Carol’s love of all animals made her very passionate about animal rights and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations.
Survivors include her daughters, Melanie Tomlinson of Charlotte and Carol Lee Glowacki and husband Joey of Mooresville; brothers, Bobby and wife Ann Batten and Tim Batten; granddaughter, Jordan Novick; nephews Rob and wife Wendy Batten and Bradley Batten.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, September 13th in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, with a reception to follow in the James Funeral Home Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coalition To Unchain Dogs, via unchaindogs.net (include Charlotte Chapter in donation information) or the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr., Huntersville, NC 28078.
