Carolyn Copeland's Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Cooper Copeland, of Cornelius, died December 6, 2024. She was born on May 21, 1935 in Orangeburg, SC to the late Walter and Isabelle Culler Cooper. She attended the Orangeburg City Schools and moved to Mooresville in 1948. She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1953. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, where she became a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, and then obtained a secretarial certificate from Carolina Business School in Charlotte. In 1956, she married Donald Lee Copeland of Davidson, NC in the Lingle Chapel of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church. She worked in various secretarial jobs while Don obtained his degree from Davidson College and attended medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill. After their second daughter was born in Chapel Hill, she became a stay-at-home mom and then moved with her family to Augusta, GA, MacOn, GA, where her son, Don, was born, Mooresville, NC, Clinton, NC, Winston-Salem, NC and finally to Lake Norman, Cornelius, NC in 1981.
She is survived by Don, her husband of 68 years; daughters, and sons-in-law, Ann and Chris Rust and Jan and Michael Hampton and her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Angie Copeland. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Lauren, Stephen, Tyler, Daniel, Benjamin, Caroline, Mackenzie, Abigail, Amanda, Madison and great-granddaughter, Lucy.
Per her wishes, a private family burial service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery on December 14. The family will be hosting family and friends for a drop in celebration of life at the home of Don and Carolyn from 4:30-6PM on Saturday, December 14.
