Carolyn Short's Obituary
Carolyn Sue (Hubbard) Short, 83, of Davidson, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1942 in Norton, Virginia, the daughter of the late Leonard and Beatrice Owens Hubbard. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Short; sister, Roma Yvonne Hubbard; and brothers, Sammy Hubbard and Harold Hubbard.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Todd Steiss of Davidson; sister, Reatha Culbertson of Colonial Heights, VA; sister, Charlene Sargent of Norton, VA; brother, Cecil Hubbard of Lanham, MD; sister, Donna Hall of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Robert (Max) Steiss, Ryan (Holly) Steiss; special grand dogs, Louie and Bea; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were dear to her.
Carolyn loved to travel, especially visits to the beach. Every Christmas was spent in Florida with her husband and daughter where they enjoyed the warm weather and sandy beaches. Time spent shopping and having lunch with friends brought her delight, sharing fun times and making memories. Carolyn also enjoyed quiet times at home listening to her favorite music by Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Carolyn was greatly loved by everyone and she loved her family more than anything; she will always be in our hearts.
