Charles Stephen Atwell's Obituary
Charles Stephen Atwell, 60 of Moravian Falls, passed on Thursday, July 18, 2019. Charles grew up in Huntersville and moved in 1999 to Alexander County.
Charles was a carpenter by trade and a life-long cowboy. He rode saddle bronc horses for 25 years, winning Rookie of the Year and seven championships. When Corey came along, Charles served on the board, and was vice-president and president of the JRSRA for many years. He impacted many kids. Charles made a lifetime of friends over the years through rodeo and being on the road.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Stephen. Charles is survived by his wife Debbie of 35 years, a son Corey and fiancee McKenzie, and beautiful granddaughter Denim, as well as his mother Mary Louise Atwell and sister Lynn Berryman (Randy) and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, from 4:00 until 8:00pm, at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Rider Relief Fund, 101 Riverwalk, Pueblo, CO, 81003 OR to Junior SRA, 15700 Ewart St, Huntersville, NC 28078.
