Charlie was a lively man by all who knew him. His greatest attributes were his love of people, sense of humor and his infectious laugh. He loved to call friends on their birthdays…no texting or Facebook for him. He loved to share a good joke with friends, specifically one-liners.
His passions were eating good ole’ cheeseburgers “without the tomato core,” watching Lawrence Welk and Spaghetti Westerns movies, “Shagging” at SOS events (Society of Stranders) and attending classic car and tractor shows. Charlie was an avid history buff, often saying “that was because he lived most of it!” His newest passion was relaxing on the porch at his Lake Wylie house watching the sunset!
Charlie was a lifelong North Carolinian, attending North Mecklenburg High School, Wingate College and East Carolina University. He enjoyed a career as at Investigator for CSX Railroad.
He was loved by many and his gregarious spirit will be missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at 3PM Sunday, November 12 in the chapel of James Funeral Home with burial following at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius. Visitation will be 2-3 prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice (Rock Hill) or Indian Hook UMC (Rock Hill).
