Charles "Jack" Morgan's Obituary
Charles Everett “Jack” Morgan, 90, of Cornelius, died April 3, 2018. He was born on December 25, 1927 in Raleigh, NC. He moved to Charlotte when he was 19, shortly before joining the United States Army during the Korean War. After leaving the Army as a corporal, he married Peggy Ann Brasington. Afterwards, he graduated from Kings Business College in Charlotte.
Always an entrepreneur, Jack started one of the first Mac Tools routes in North Carolina. He used his leadership and sales skills to be successful and opened the doors for others to succeed. Most people found it hard to say no to Jack because he was a born salesman. Although he retired from Mac Tools in 1990, Jack went on to start three more successful businesses, selling his last one when he was 87 years old.
Even though Jack was successful in business, most important to him was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, often taking them in his boat on treasure hunts around the islands on Lake Norman. All children had a special place in his heart.
Jack’s love for the Lord was most important to him. He enjoyed his church family at Bethel Presbyterian Church and loved to attend the Ramblers outings. Jack and Peggy have always felt that Bethel was their special home.
Jack is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Peggy, and four children: Beverly Morgan Epperson (Sandy); Terry Edmundson (Chris); Cathy Lanning (David); and Greg Morgan (Mary). In addition, Jack has grandchildren: Andrew Epperson (Kelsi); Timothy Epperson; Amy Nelson (Todd); Kristine Lovell (Kevin); Ashley Jay (Justin); Charles Lanning (Rachel); Sam Edmundson; and Renee Morgan; and great-grandchildren: Roselyn Epperson, Everett Lovell, Will and Curt Epperson and Lana and Camden Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolphus Darius and Annie B Morgan, and his brother, James Morgan. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Overcash (Jimmy) of Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19220 Bethel Church Road, Cornelius NC 28031.
The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Friday, April 6 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center.
