Charles Penninger's Obituary
Charles Howard Penninger, Jr. “Pooner”, 64, of Charlotte, died September 24, 2013 at CMC. He was born on August 25, 1949 in Mecklenburg County to the late Charles H. and Betty Jo Penninger. He served his country in the US Army, was a master mason at the Derita Masonic Lodge #715, and retired from the NC D.O.T. He was an avid outdoorsman who never met a stranger and was loved by all who met him.
Survivors include his wife Jacque Penninger; daughters, Page Graham and husband Michael of Kannapolis and Ashley Jones and husband Ralph of Charlotte; brothers, Gus and Tim and sister Judy Helms as well as 6 grandchildren, who he simply adored. His brother Norman preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 27 at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shawn Barkley and Rev. Jon Sherrill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-11 prior to the service in the sanctuary.
