Charles Snyder Jr.'s Obituary
Charles W. Snyder, Jr. (Chuck) of Huntersville, NC, passed away on September 5, 2022, after an almost two-year battle with liver and kidney cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles W. Snyder Sr. and Ethlyn Baker Snyder, both of Manning, SC. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Jeanes Snyder, his son, Charles W. Snyder III (Linda) of Huntersville, NC, and two grandchildren, Charles (Charlie) Snyder of Seattle, WA, and Kathleen (Kait) Snyder of Huntersville, NC. Charles is also survived by a sister, Kay Snyder Hunter (David) of Towson, MD, a nephew, Alex Hunter (Leslie) of Towson, MD, and a niece, Lynn Hunter of New York City, NY.
Charles grew up in Manning, SC and attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. After two years, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served 4 years at Shaw Air Force Base, SC, as a Medic, managing the Hospital Immunization Clinic and immunizing fighter pilots before being deployed to combat in Southeast Asia.
Following Air Force service, Charles returned to Columbia, SC to attend the University of SC. While in school, Charles began his employment with Consolidated Systems, Inc. He worked with CSI for 25 years in both the Columbia division and the division in Memphis, TN. After leaving CSI, Charles was employed by BWI Companies of Memphis for 20 years as Inventory Control Manager.
Chuck always enjoyed fishing, visiting the family property on Lake Marion, SC, and woodworking in his shop. He was also an avid reader, sometimes enjoying a couple of historical fiction books per week. He enjoyed being with family, especially with the extra time retirement offered. Chuck was a good friend to many, and many of those friendships lasted a lifetime. His humor, good nature, and smile will be always be dear to our hearts.
The Snyder family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Atrium’s Levine Cancer Institute,
University City, Charlotte, NC, for their care and diligent efforts to make Chuck’s struggle with cancer as painless as possible. This team made it possible for him to spend many hours with friends and family making cherished memories for all.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Chuck at a time yet to be determined.
