Martin Brooks
I met Al and Jerry around the time that they met each other in 1983. We all met at the MCC (Metropolitan Community Church) of the Blessed Redeemer when it was in Atlanta's Poncey-Highlands. It would later relocate and become First MCC of Atlanta. We were all involved in various LGBTQ+ organizations over the years, sometimes traveling out of town together for a march or a conference. But there were also many parties, movies, plays, etc. that we enjoyed.
Most people know that Al was a highly skilled sign language interpreter for the deaf. There were many times when he would arbitrarily provide signing for my sister Angela whom he seemed very fond of. I will always especially appreciate his kindness to her.
RIP, dear Al. 😔
