Pat’n’Chuck. All one word, one body. “Are we going over to Patnchuck’s this week?” or “I think we’re going to Panera’s with Patnchuck after Mass”. (Well, I should say ‘I know’ instead of ‘I think’ because that was always our Sunday routine! But that’s how we knew them: as Patnchuck. One body. They belonged together. We have been blessed to have them as friends these past several years sharing in their joy of their two daughters’ families and reminiscing about their colorful experiences in Minnesota and Maryland.
Now about Chuck: Smart Friendly Informed Strong views - and yeah, Cantankerous. And what a past! I‘m not sure if I would have been brave enough or could have kept up with him in his younger days. Well, I’m not sure I could even have fit in the car with all the Guardian Angels that must have been assigned to him. But it would have been a ride! I enjoyed those stories.
Happily, Chuck’s union with Pat gave us the man we knew - a man who’s life was committed to his family and committed to helping others as well. I believe Chuck could look back on a life fulfilled and a life filled with adventure, trials, successes, and good friends across the years. I’ll miss him in his vital role as part of Patnchuck, but considering the burden of health issues I think he earned his early passage from our world into God’s.
