Christopher James Townsend's Obituary
Christopher James Townsend, 41, of Cornelius died August 1, 2022. He was born on August 5, 1980 in Mecklenburg County to Patricia Townsend and the late James Townsend.
Chris grew up in Cornelius, N.C. where he went to school and made lifelong friends. He had some difficult years early on that he was able to overcome. Those years gave way to a man that was gentle and full of character. Chris was kind hearted and loving. He was a person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Chris enjoyed taking daily walks and was extremely smart with an IQ over 140. He loved seeing the growth and changes in the area where he grew up. He was caring, always thinking of ways to put others first. Chris had a strong moral conviction and strove to do what was right, being honest in the smallest of situations and quick to apologize when wrong. He was a blessing, a gift from God to his mother that she is forever thankful for.
Survivors include his mother Patricia Townsend; brother, James Townsend (Agata); half-sisters, Teresa Perron and Cindy Bumgardner.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, August 7 at James Funeral Home with visitation 2-3 prior. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
