Claire Spence's Obituary
Ms. Claire Danielle Spence, of Cornelius, passed away 10th December 2019 aged 38.
Claire, originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, moved with her family to Cornelius NC at 16.
She received her BA in Elementary Education and her M-ED., Child and family studies, Special Education and Child Development from UNCC. Her training also included Bedok Green Primary School, Singapore and Malaguzzi Educational Center, Italy.
Claire taught 5 years each at Bethel Presbyterian, Cornelius Pre-school (2000-2005), and American Renaissance, Statesville, (2007-2012) and from 2012 to present and ArtSpace Charter School Swannanoa, N C.
Claire is currently an A+ Schools fellow at the North Carolina Arts Council, Raleigh, NC,
Teaching brought her great joy and she loved the children as much as they loved her. Claire enjoyed travel and spending time with Josh and her pets Luna and Lily.
Ms. Spence is survived by her partner, Josh Worsham, her parents, Cyril and Jennifer Spence, and brother Michael Spence, all of Cornelius as well as her brother Richard Spence of Washington State, along with his wife Diana and son Colin. Claire is also survived by her grandparents Carlisle and Sarah Reid of Crumlin, Co Antrim, along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius on Friday 27th December at 11.00 am .
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am on Friday 20th December at James’ Funeral Home
